Crucifixion was the most brutal, painful and humilating method of killing a person. The aim of the game was to inflict the maximum amount of pain. Jesus was crucified on a hill called ‘the skull’ just outside Jerusalem over 2000 years ago. We get so used to hearing about ‘Jesus dying on the cross’ that we might forget just how brutal his death was. The bible didn’t need to describe crucifixion – people saw it with their own eyes.
